In 2023, the global construction stone market had a turnover of approximately $33 million, with Iran’s share being around $143,000, or 0.43%. Construction stones such as travertine, marble, and granite are among the main materials in construction and architecture, playing a vital role in various building projects. The increasing demand for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects worldwide, especially in developing countries, has contributed to the growth of this market. Additionally, the development of modern technologies in the extraction and processing of construction stones has improved the quality and efficiency of these products, opening new markets for producers.
Unfortunately, despite Iran’s abundant stone mining resources and unparalleled variety in design and color, the country has not achieved significant success in capturing global market shares. This issue requires discussion, analysis, and the implementation of effective solutions, which is beyond the scope of this report.
In this report, we aim to examine the exports and imports of construction stones under five tariff codes: 2515, 2516, 6801, 6802, and 6803, and also determine Iran’s position within this market. It is hoped that familiarity with figures, data, and charts will enhance analytical capacity, support strategy development for market improvement, and clarify the current position so that, relying on data and future-oriented analysis, appropriate strategies can be developed to expand the market and improve construction stone exports.
